Giant Tulip Bulb “Family & Friends” Unveiled by Fifth Generation of JUB Holland

Noordwijkerhout - NL, 9 April 2025 – On Wednesday afternoon, a special Giant Tulip Bulb entitled Family & Friends was unveiled at the JUB Holland trial gardens. The bulb is part of the Giant Tulip Bulbs art project by the Gildemeesters Bollenstreek Foundation. The unveiling was carried out by the youngest generation of the Uittenbogaard family – now the fifth generation of the flower bulb company.
The Giant Bulb has been placed in a highly symbolic location: right at the JUB Holland’s trial gardens, on soil where bulbs have been cultivated for generations. The name Family & Friends pays tribute to the people behind the company and extends a warm welcome to all who visit the business and the Bollenstreek region.
Symbolism in Colour and Form
The bulb is painted a rich golden yellow, a nod to the value of family, tradition and craftsmanship – key themes also reflected in the JUB Holland logo. Within the golden backdrop, vibrant tulips stretch upwards along a growth line – the family line. This line symbolises the strength of connection and growth passed from one generation to the next. The tulips gather like a colourful family – each unique, yet rooted in the same soil. Family & Friends is more than just a work of art – it is a reminder of what truly defines the Bollenstreek: connection and flourishing.
“This bulb comes quite literally from the heart of the region,” says Jaap-Jan Uittenbogaard (Director, JUB Holland). “We are proud to be standing here with the fifth generation. It is a way of connecting past, present and future with a blossoming symbol of hospitality. The flowers on this bulb do not just grow – they grow along our family line. Every petal stands for connection, growth and friendship. It is a true honour that our children get to unveil it, right here where our story has been blooming for generations.”
The Family & Friends Giant Tulip Bulb, created by artist Leontine van der Klugt, can be viewed from 9 April at the Robijnslaan in Noordwijkerhout (NL), as part of the Giant Bulbs Cycling Route through the Bollenstreek.
