Our stand at Keukenhof this year has the theme Velvet, again designed by garden and landscape designer Carien van Boxtel. The presentation Velvet is inspired by carpets, woven in the most fantastic flower (motif) based patterns and rich, saturated colour schemes. Burgundy, black, bronze, ochre, warm orange and brown were chosen, with warm yellow and white/cream as contrasting colours. A variety of crocuses, tulips, frittillaria, daffodils, gladioli, irises and alliums were used.

Our stand can be admired at Keukenhof until 14 May 2023, stand 14.

Combining flower bulbs with perennials 🌷⁠ ⁠ Spring-flowering bulbs such as tulips, daffodils and alliums are ideal to combine with perennials to create colour and structure in borders and beds throughout the season. Planting bulbs among perennials creates a dynamic and colourful design. Think of tulips emerging early in spring among ornamental grasses or daffodils combined with perennials such as geraniums or lady's mantle. ⁠ ⁠ Once the bulbs have finished flowering, the perennials take over, avoiding bare spots. Thus, with a well thought-out planting plan, you create a flowering cycle that continues into late summer. ⁠ ⁠ Give your projects a natural look with these clever combinations, using the best of both worlds: our colourful spring blooms as well as the structure of perennials. 🍀

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is about this: providing insight into the positive and negative impact you have on the environment, the world and people. Sustainability is one of the pillars of JUB Holland, and I feel responsible for monitoring this data. I track progress: where are we now? What we are doing is good, but there is definitely room for improvement.’⁠

Absolutely!⁠ ⁠ Did you know that it is still possible to plant flower bulbs in public spaces, even in December? ⁠ ⁠ Take a look at the colourful transformation of the verge in Leidschendam, where our bulbs bloom from April to July, bringing something new every season. Provided the ground is not frozen, we can plant bulbs (by machine) and ensure your outdoor space is ready for a bright spring.⁠ ⁠ 💡 Interested? Planting flower bulbs in December? 🌱⁠ ⁠ No problem! As long as it's not freezing yet, you can just keep planting. The soil is often still warm enough for the bulbs to take root. As soon as it freezes, this growth stops, but the bulbs remain good and spring up beautifully. ⁠ ⁠ So don't wait too long, plant flower bulbs and give your garden a colourful boost for next year!

‘Tulips only bloom once. You won't have any use for them the next year.’⁠ This is a common argument from gardeners not to plant tulips. But this is not entirely true.⁠ ⁠ There are tulips that reliably come back every year, without you having to take them out of the ground. Think about botanical tulips, but some common varieties also bloom year after year. 💪⁠ ⁠ At JUB, you'll find a beautiful selection of these perennial tulips.
