SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS PROCESSES AT JUB

At JUB Holland, sustainability is at the core of all our business processes, from packaging to cultivation in our nursery. With solar panels and advanced climate control, we aim for minimal CO2 emissions. Innovatively applying iron sand across 7 hectares of bulb fields reduces phosphate leaching into surface water. We also use wood mulch in our tulip fields and employ hot air treatment on daffodils to minimize the use of chemical agents.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND GREEN ENERGY

At JUB Holland, we fully utilize green energy generated by 971 solar panels on our premises, yielding approximately 359 MWh of electricity annually. Additionally, we supplement our energy needs with green energy sourced from the Netherlands. Through ongoing investments in energy-saving measures, we reduced our gas and electricity consumption by 35% and 15% respectively in 2023 compared to 2022. Our internal transportation is exclusively conducted using electric forklifts.
 

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING AND BULB CULTIVATION

JUB Holland aims for more sustainable packaging materials by continuously seeking solutions to reduce residual waste. Our catalog is printed carbon-neutral, and our prepacks packaging consists of over 90% recycled material. We promote reuse by taking back and refurbishing displays, repairing wooden pallets instead of replacing them, and reusing packaging in plant projects to minimize waste. Internally, we categorize and recycle six different waste streams, contributing to our pursuit of circular business practices.

SUSTAINABLE CULTIVATION FOR A GREEN FUTURE

Our daffodils and tulips are MPS-A and On the way to PlanetProof certified, indicating that we continuously strive to reduce our environmental impact. We conduct practical research at our nursery to decrease the use of crop protection products. Our involvement in the breeding collaboration 'Remarkable' also assists in developing virus resistance and more resilient tulip varieties, contributing to sustainable and healthy crops.
