Colour in a low-maintenance planting system under dry conditions

Bulbs under dry conditions, among grasses and prairie plants

A prairie garden is a low-maintenance planting system that creates a natural balance between plants. The combinations of strong perennials and ornamental grasses give a completely different look in colour and structure five to six times a year. The image is attractive all year round. Since many prairie plants come on late, bulbous plants are used for colour in spring. Suitable prairie garden species are allium, camassia, leucojum, ornithogalum, iris as well as botanical tulips and daffodils.
